Techniques Used
Each massage is tailored to your current symptoms, pain threshold, general health and experience with massage.
Swedish/Relaxation Deep Tissue
It is the most popular massage in the Western world. It uses gliding, kneading, muscle squeezing and trigger point therapy to increase circulation and flexibility and reduce inflammation and pain. Pressure can be light or deep and the rhythm fast or slow depending on the desired effect.
Myofascial Release
The intent is to change the viscosity of the ground substance of fascia which is a three-dimensional web of connective tissue which surrounds every organ, muscle, bone, nerve and blood vessel of our body. The techniques can vary from gentle holds to deep skin rolling.
Rhythmic Mobilizations & Joint Play
A thoughtful series of movements (rocking and shaking) that are gradually increased and maintained to stretch the tissues which increases mobilization and relaxation. When integrated with joint play the techniques can reduced pain, increase range of motion and help maintain joint health.
Visceral Manipulation
Treating abdominal adhesions helps the body correct tension patterns that affect not only the viscera but often the whole body. It is a gentle manual therapy that works through the visceral or internal organ systems to locate and release restrictions and unhealthy compensations that lead to pain and dysfunction.
Hi! I’m Catherine
I’ve been a RMT for the past 15 years. My career has taken me across Canada and to the Islands of Bermuda. From my travels I’ve learned that we have deep human connections, the most powerful being Touch. I’ve developed my skills over time to provide a safe, effective and supportive touch during massage therapy sessions. I believe our bodies express their needs to us but we are not usually listening. During a massage therapy session I offer your body the chance to be heard.
